The event, Autism on the Run, will be held at the Park at River Walk in Bakersfield, California, aims to promote local resources for families and connect with others whose lives have been touched by disability. Susan Graham, executive director of HEARTS Connection, discussed the event on 17 News at Noon. The walk event includes several walks for participants, including a 2K, 5K and 10K. Registration is required for the event.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — April 2 is World Autism Day. The United Nations has designated the day to affirm and promote the full realization of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for people with autism on equal basis with others.

On Saturday, HEARTS Connection will host an event at the Park at River Walk in Bakersfield to promote local resources for families and to build community and connect with others whose lives have been touched by disability.

Susan Graham, executive director of HEARTS Connection joined Elaina Rusk on 17 News at Noon to discuss Saturday’s event. This year’s event includes several walks for participants including a 2K, 5K and 10K.

The event takes place Saturday, April 6 beginning at 7 a.m.
