BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Multiple pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested following a confrontation at Wednesday night Bakersfield City Council meeting.
The confrontation happened after protesters were kicked out of the chamber again. For the fourth meeting in a row, Mayor Karen Goh called for the chamber to be cleared.
The protesters want city leaders to join dozens of other cities across the Nation and approve a ceasefire resolution.
Video circulating online shows protesters and police clashing in a tug-of-war-like battle with the front doors of city hall. This caused the glass to break on one of the doors and officers then took a number of protesters into custody.
Last night’s meeting finally resumed about an hour later, but ceasefire chants could still be heard through the walls, coming from protesters outside.
