April marks the start of Child Abuse Prevention Month. There will be efforts nationwide and locally to raise awareness about preventing this type of abuse.

On April 9, the Kern County Board of Supervisors will declare April child abuse prevention month. For the entire month, the County Administrative building in downtown will be lit up blue.

The purpose of these lights is to serve as a reminder for people that they can help in the fight against child abuse. The Kern County Department of Human Services is behind most of the efforts to inform the public.
