The Delano Police Department said on March 4, 2024, at 6:13 p.m., officers made a traffic stop on a silver Hyundai Sonata at 9th Avenue and Ellington Street.
Police said officers found that the driver, Modesto Nava Osuna, was wanted in Riverside County for drug charges. Osuna was arrested without incident.
Delano police said during a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found two pounds of methamphetamine and over 100 grams of counterfeit oxycodone pills in a hidden compartment.
According to police, this compartment was built into the seats and could only be accessed by disengaging remote-controlled latches.
Osuna was booked on a felony warrant from Riverside County and multiple drug charges.
Police said in the following days, detectives obtained a search warrant for the vehicle. A subsequent, more thorough search uncovered additional narcotics, according to Delano police.
On June 11, 2024, the Hyundai Sonata was destroyed under a court order for violating a Health and Safety Code.
