Bakersfield Rain, Thunderstorms And Flood Watch Thursday
Bakersfield gets a wet Thursday with flood concerns, then a sunny weekend warm-up. Highs climb from the upper 60s to the upper 70s by Sunday. Bakersfield is expected to have a wet, unsettled forecast, with showers or thunderstorms possible from late morning through the afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch in effect for Bakersfield and much of Kern County until Thursday evening. The forecast predicts a 50% chance of rain, with an additional half-inch expected in the Sierra Nevada and a quarter-inch elsewhere in the forecast area by Thursday evening, and residents should watch for water collecting in low-lying areas, clogged drains and temporary flooding on roads. Winds are expected to remain light, reducing slick roads and reduced visibility. After a stormy 24 hours, a much drier weekend is expected.
